So a lot has happened since i arrived home at the start of July, so I will summarize
The return to work was a massive shock to the system which I am still not sure I have gotten over, I have been promoted, I think, I am now doing my old job, training a new guy, and beginning an a new role in sales. I excitingly signed my first new customer since I have been back last week.
I took a month of training which i was totally hanging out for by time i arrived back, I was very excited to pack away the altitude tent and stuff it in the cupboard for a time.. peaceful unbreathless bliss:) The return to training was tough as we are having one of the coldest winters in Melbourne we have had since I have been here, i know it has been no where near as cold as back in Tasmania, i am probably getting soft in my old age. The last 4 weeks of training have been different but solid, i am doing a 200m program, which as those of you who know my strength at classic paddling will laugh at, it has been very hard to get my head around but hopefully it will pay off with some good speed latter on in the season.
I have had some cracking weekends on the river, one on the king at a great level, which included some great wine tasting and an interesting evening at the moyhu pub where the power kept going off in our rooms. Emily Glenn's girlfrend has done a great job driving us up and down the river. I have had a couple of days on the yarra, with a recent win in the vic state champs at a high level.. So excitingly i now hold the tasmanian state tittle and the victorian one.. I was hoping to add a national title in two weeks time, but the national champs have been cancelled due to lack of water.. i wont say anymore as there is still a rant inside me somewhere.
Glenn and I had another cracking day on the Big river today at 1,2m which was sweet, i feel i am paddling well on whitewater just not as fit as i would like, being 75kg atm is not helping the feeling of the boat..
Other exciting news includes purchasing a new mountain bike.. which i have enjoyed riding to and from mercs and out and about in the hills around Melbourne.
i will endeavor to keep everyone posted on my goings on as well as post a few long promised photos up.
