Sorry I have been quite for a couple if days, I wasn't feeling massively excited about blogging for some strange reason. It has been strange the last couple of days after the classic not preparing for a teams race, it is the first time I have missed out at a world champs, and I haven't really enjoyed the experience so far. Hopefully it doesn't get any worse....
Well wednesday morning I went running in the hills above sort, it wad great fun even though it was pissing down rain( more about that latter) I eventually found the walking trails and had some awesome dingle track running, although there were some sketchy moments on the descents on sone muddy sections, but it wad just what I needed to clear my head after the classic, I am going to go again tomorrow I think, I will try to take my camera to get some pics if the valley.
I spent wednesday arvo with the other Aussie boys and ben Oakley from gb watching the chicks and c2s race classic, due to all the rain the river was 30cm higher than in the boys:(, all the boys were jealous of ghe girls and I think the girls may have also liked to have swapped, we were watching on the last big rapid approx 13 mins into the race so all of the girls were very cooked where we saw them but all paddled very impressively at a high level that most would of only paddled at in the warm up run!! Some of you probably met Hannah brown when she staid with md in Melbourne she finished second which was very cool.
Today I started my campain to push past my peak and set myself up for some good world cup results next weekend, with two lake sessions. The plan is to smash it for the next few days whilst everyone is racing.
The river is massively high due to all the rain in the last two days. The river peaked today at 230 m3/second. That means that there were 230 cubic metres glowing past a point every second, this is a lot of water. To pit this into perspective. The Mersey runs at 25-30, race level for the men here was 60 for the girls was 80, a medium sized cataract gorge flood is around 100. Oh and the river is probably only 20 metres wide.... Whole trees have been floating down..
Needless to say, racing was cancelled today. The river is expected to drop overnight, and the boys will Find out if they are racing tomorrow morning at 9am...
I will get organised and put some photos up from the last week or so tomorrow.. In between my big day of training, helping the boys and cheering on our Australian masters competitors.
Gee 2 days of news is quote a lot! Sorry
Hope everyone at home is well?
Foo
