Hey

Stessful morning on the river today. The river is still up, and I was showing Andrea down the top two thirds for her first run on the whole course. Felt good and in control in the rapids but I had to hold back power levels and stop in between rapids so that I didn't paddle away. Unfortunately she caught an edge after angel falls an ended up swimming. It wasn't a nice feeling looking back to see a boat floating down the river and a little white helmet/person Bobbing allong beside it. She got herself to the bank whilst Matt and Ben Oakley chased the boat. Once we were sure she was ok Hannah and I set off to see if we could help with the boat.

At the moment the river is like a fast flowing ditch with no eddys and no flat pools. We chased the boat for about 2ks with Ben Oakley and I trying to push it to the bank before it lodged itself on some tree's.

I managed to get out of the boat and scamble into the trees and with a little help from matt pull it out. Andrea is ok:) but it will take us a couple of days to get her boat fixed up and back on the water:(.

I didn't do anymore runs this morning as I wanted to let myself cooldown to see if I had strained anything pulling the boat out or when I rolled after her boat landed in my deck at one stage. All seems ok at this stage, I may have rolled a rib but Susie should be able to put that back for me.. It's handy having a physio on the team.

When we were grabbing Andrea's boat there was more carnage with the British C2 having taken a swim I ended up running down the bank and helping hannah catch and save that, after she had made a rather impressive dive for the end loops.(ww boats have end loops for holding onto when u swim this hopefully allows the person in the water to hold onto the boat, or the rescuer something to grab onto)

I think a few of us are owed some chocolate, icecream or beer after this mornings rescue efforts.

Hopefully this arvo I manage to have a good solid session on the river with no incidents!

Adios amigos!
